Build a brief the other party can act on
A useful shipment message identifies the load, a concrete operating fact and the response needed. Replace vague updates with an actionable question or confirmed instruction; do not call a proposed change agreed until the appropriate workflow and parties have confirmed it.
- Identify the booked load and correct pickup or delivery facility rather than mixing instructions from multiple trips.
- Give the commercial entrance, receiving contact, appointment and safe check-in location.
- Confirm cargo readiness and loading or unloading equipment instead of assuming the dock can handle the truck.
- For an exception, state what changed, the affected window and who can confirm the next step.
- Preserve the conversation with the shipment, but use the applicable process for booking changes, delivery review and payment.
Resolve the details that change truck suitability
Use shipment communication to confirm the commercial entrance, loading method, pallet measurements and receiving contact. Ask about an unclear requirement before acceptance rather than assuming a truck-size label settles every operational detail. Preserve the agreed information with the correct load.
Make exceptions concrete and actionable
When a pickup is not ready or a receiver changes the window, communicate what changed, who is available and what needs confirmation. A message is useful evidence of the conversation, but it should not be confused with a completed booking change, authorized charge or guaranteed resolution.
Direct conversation is not off-platform payment
The marketplace's direct connection does not remove payment terms or allow the parties to bypass review. Shippers pay through the platform's applicable process, and delivery, review and payout remain distinct. Keep sensitive information and documents within the appropriate authorized shipment workflow.
Account registration & freight pricing
Account registration costs $0 USD. Freight rates vary by load, and displayed transportation and payment terms apply. The $0 offer is for account creation only; it does not mean free transportation or no platform fees.

Frequently asked questions
Can the shipper communicate with the carrier handling the load?
Yes. Direct shipper–carrier communication is part of BoxDirect's supported shipment workflow.
Does a message approve an extra charge or release payment?
Do not assume so. Use the applicable approval and payment process; a conversation is not evidence that a charge was paid or a transfer occurred.
Does direct communication mean paying the carrier outside BoxDirect?
No. BoxDirect's payment terms state that shippers pay the platform. Direct operational communication does not change those terms.
