A TMS manages the carrier operation; a marketplace finds a connection
Evaluate LoadMaster when the requirement is carrier-wide transportation management. Evaluate BoxDirect when the requirement is a direct shipper connection, an eligible freight booking or offer, shipment communication and load documentation. These are different purchase decisions and may coexist in a carrier's toolset.
BoxDirect supports enclosed box/straight trucks in its active 16-, 20-, 24- and 26-foot categories, plus 53-foot dry vans. This does not mean every straight-truck body or service is supported. Confirm the assigned vehicle's dimensions, payload and loading equipment; a size label alone does not establish suitability.
Product-fit tradeoffs, not a universal winner
Replacing a carrier TMS with a marketplace would leave unverified requirements. BoxDirect does not claim enterprise accounting, payroll, fleet maintenance, HOS compliance automation or dispatch optimization. Likewise, purchasing a TMS should not be confused with a guarantee of direct shipper freight.
How to compare a real shipment
List the operations you currently perform in your TMS, then isolate the freight-sourcing step. Test BoxDirect for that step without removing the system needed for carrier-wide records. No McLeod integration or automatic transfer of bookings is represented.
Understand BoxDirect's fee and payout process
For new bookings, BoxDirect's 10% platform fee is included in the agreed freight amount and deducted before the carrier payout, not added on top of the shipper's booked price. A $1,000 freight booking allocates $100 to the platform and $900 to the carrier before other applicable deductions. Historical bookings retain their agreed totals.
Shipper payment, delivery approval, administrator payout review and bank settlement are separate steps. Delivery approval does not automatically release money. Reported problems require administrative resolution, and bank processing times vary.
Competitor prices, plans and service terms must be checked with the provider. No competitor price, load-volume claim, review score or service guarantee is assumed in this comparison.
Account registration & freight pricing
Account registration costs $0 USD. Freight rates vary by load, and displayed transportation and payment terms apply. The $0 offer is for account creation only; it does not mean free transportation or no platform fees.
